Chandigarh, November 27
Punjab’s Revenue and Housing Minister Hardip Singh Mundian on Tuesday directed Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to ensure the implementation of the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2024, which eliminates the requirement for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the registration of land deeds. This historic move, approved by the Punjab Assembly in September and signed into law by the Governor, aims to provide relief to small plot owners and address issues related to unauthorized colonies.
In a letter to officials, Mundian confirmed that people can benefit from the amendment from December 1, 2024, to February 2025. The act stipulates that individuals who entered into power of attorney or sale agreements for plots up to 500 square yards in unauthorized colonies before July 31, 2024, will no longer need an NOC for registration.
Mundian stressed that the amendment was a major relief for the public, aimed at curbing illegal developments and improving transparency in land registration. He also emphasized the state’s commitment to the well-being of every section of society, urging officials to ensure full compliance with the orders to avoid public inconvenience.
