Dharamshala, June 9
Himachal Pradesh Wool Federation Chairman Manoj Thakur on Tuesday strongly criticised former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Neeraj Bharti over his remarks against Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, describing the allegations as “false”, “baseless” and far removed from facts.
Addressing a press conference in Dharamshala, Thakur said the Congress government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhu was working with a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. He claimed that the opposition had no substantial issues and was therefore resorting to politically motivated allegations.
Thakur stated that the Chief Minister had issued clear directions to ministers and officials to work with transparency and honesty. Questioning Bharti’s claims, he asked on what basis such allegations had been made and what purpose they were intended to serve.
“Neeraj Bharti had a bright political future, but through such statements he has harmed himself politically,” Thakur said. He further alleged that the controversy appeared to be part of a larger political game aimed at pleasing certain individuals.
During the press interaction, Thakur also referred to MLA Sudhir Sharma and said that if the allegations previously leveled by Bharti were true, he should also openly clarify those matters.
He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of attempting to gain political benefit from the allegations against the Chief Minister.
Thakur further remarked that several leaders had left the Congress and joined the BJP, where they now considered themselves contenders for the Chief Minister’s post despite multiple faces within the party vying for leadership.
He said some political figures were unable to accept the growing popularity of Chief Minister Sukhu, who rose from an ordinary family background to the state’s top post through hard work and struggle.
Expressing confidence in the Congress party’s future, Thakur said the party would return to power in the 2027 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections under Sukhu’s leadership and form the government in the state once again.
