The key promoter of the Mahadev Online Book App and the main accused in a ₹6,000 crore betting scam, Sourabh Chandrakar, was arrested last week in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). His arrest follows an Interpol red notice issued against him, and efforts are now underway for his extradition to India.
Chandrakar and his business partner, Ravi Uppal, were placed under “house detention” in Dubai in December 2023 as investigations into the alleged scam intensified. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) claims that the Mahadev Online Book App was operated from Dubai, utilizing a franchise model with a profit-sharing ratio of 70% to 30%, according to the media reports.
The court in Raipur of Chhattisgarh on Thursday a issued an extradition order for Chandrakar, which is currently being processed by the UAE authorities. Various investigative agencies, including the ED, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Chhattisgarh Police, are coordinating the extradition through the Ministry of External Affairs, the news outlet The Hindustan Reported.
