Chandigarh, February 13
Ludhiana is undergoing a major transformation, with 85 infrastructure projects worth ₹930 crore aimed at modernising the city and improving urban living, Punjab Local Government Minister Dr Ravjot Singh said on Thursday. He said that 65 projects, valued at ₹712.86 crore, have been completed, including key developments such as Railway Over Bridges (RoBs) and Railway Under Bridges (RuBs) on Pakhowal Road, waterfront development along the Sidhwan Canal, and Smart eClassrooms. Other completed initiatives include Malhar Road’s upgrade into a Smart Road, the establishment of a Municipal Command and Control Centre for security, LED streetlight installation, and improved solid waste management. Green spaces and parks have also been prioritised.
Seventeen projects, worth ₹199.26 crore, are currently in progress, focusing on water supply improvements, bio-remediation for waste management, and upgraded sports infrastructure, including a state-of-the-art all-weather swimming pool at Rakh Bagh. Road and bridge developments are also underway to enhance connectivity, he added.
