India achieved a historic milestone as it celebrated a 280-run victory over Bangladesh, ending a 92-year-long wait. With the win at Chepauk, Chennai, in the first Test of a two-match series, India joins an elite group of teams with more wins than losses in Test cricket, alongside Australia, England, South Africa, and Pakistan.
India’s batting was equally dominant, with Rishabh Pant (109) and Shubman Gill (119) smashing centuries in India’s second innings before declaring at 287/4, setting a target of 515 runs. Bangladesh’s skipper, Najmul Hossain Shanto, top-scored with a resilient 82 off 127 balls. It took nearly a century for the team to achieve a positive win-loss ratio in the longest format of the game.
