Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 12 development projects worth Rs 90.66 crore in the Kasauli Assembly constituency of Solan district. The project aims to improve road connectivity, strengthen public infrastructure, and expand water resource facilities in the region.
The Chief Minister inaugurated a 45-meter double-lane arch bridge over Gamber Khad on the Shalaghat Arki Kunihar Barotiwala road, a new Block Development Office building at Dharampur, and a science block at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Pratha.He also laid the foundation stones for several major infrastructure projects, including the Kaushalya Dam near Datyar, road improvement and strengthening works, link roads, and road upgradation projects in different parts of the constituency.
Addressing a public gathering, Sukhu announced Rs 20 crore for the Johadji Malla road. He also announced a monthly pension of Rs 1,500 under the Indira Gandhi Sukh Samman Nidhi for eligible women from five gram panchayats represented at the event.
The Chief Minister further announced CBSE affiliation for PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Pratha, the opening of a branch of the Jogindra Cooperative Bank, and a survey for the proposed dam at Chati Dhank.
Referring to the Kishau Dam project, Sukhu said the state government had protected Himachal Pradesh’s interests and secured 211 MW of electricity without any additional financial burden. He said the arrangement is expected to generate annual benefits of nearly Rs 600 crore for the state.
The Chief Minister also criticized the Centre’s proposed alternative to MGNREGA, alleging that it would adversely affect lakhs of workers in Himachal Pradesh. He said the reduction in the state’s Revenue Deficit Grant had delayed efforts to make the state financially self-reliant, while reiterating the government’s commitment to achieving that objective.
