Chandigarh, February 18
At least five people were killed and several others seriously injured after a private passenger bus plunged into a drain in Faridkot district on Tuesday morning. The accident occurred when the bus collided with a goods-laden truck on the Kotkapura-Faridkot road, causing the vehicle to skid off the road and fall into the drain.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann confirmed the incident, expressing his condolences for the victims and wishing a swift recovery for the injured. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Mann stated that the situation was dire, with many passengers critically injured. He assured the public that the administration had been instructed to provide immediate assistance to the victims, and he remained in constant contact with the local authorities.
“We pray for the peace of the souls of those who lost their lives and wish for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he added.
