Chandigarh Police have registered a case against the management and owners of Elante Mall after a granite slab fell from a height of 25 feet, injuring a 13-year-old girl, Maisha Dixit, and her aunt, Surbhi Jain. The incident occurred on September 29 while they were celebrating the girl’s birthday at the mall.
Surbhi Jain, who sustained serious injuries, accused the mall authorities of delaying medical assistance. In her complaint, she cited negligence and claimed she was pressured to settle. Based on her statement, police registered a case under Sections 125(A) and 125(B) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (causing hurt by endangering life) at the Industrial Area police station on Wednesday night, the news outlet The Hindustan Times reported.
Elante Mall’s spokesperson acknowledged the FIR and assured full cooperation with the investigation, Jain stated the injuries would prevent her from working for six months, citing trauma from the incident, the news outlet said.
