Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud has recommended Justice Sanjiv Khanna, the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, to be appointed as the next Chief Justice of India. CJI Chandrachud has written to the central government, proposing Justice Khanna’s elevation. The CJI Chandrachud is scheduled to retire on November 10. Justice Khanna, after appointment, will serve as CJI for just over six months, with his term concluding on May 13, 2025.
