Kalka, June 24
A government school teacher from Himachal Pradesh was found dead at her rented accommodation in Kalka’s Housing Board Colony in an apparent suicide case, police officials said. The deceased, Anita, was a JBT teacher in Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh.
Police said Anita had been living alone in the rented house in Kalka because of her job, while her husband, Raghuveer, a software engineer working in Gurugram, was residing separately. Their 12-year-old son was reportedly staying with relatives in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
The incident came to light after Anita allegedly stopped responding to phone calls for several days. According to police, her husband informed their son, following which Anita’s brother reached the residence in Kalka.

As the door was locked from the inside, her brother reportedly climbed the stairs into the room and found Anita hanging from a ceiling fan. Police were informed immediately and took custody of the body.
The body was sent to the mortuary at SDH Kalka for a post-mortem examination. A Scene of Crime team also inspected the spot and collected evidence as part of the investigation. Police officials said the condition of the body suggested that Anita may have died two to three days before she was found.
During the investigation, police recovered a diary from Anita’s room, which reportedly contained an alleged suicide note. Kalka police station in-charge Pratap Singh said the note mentioned her husband and a female friend in connection with her death.
According to police, Anita had allegedly been under mental stress due to her husband Raghuveer’s alleged relationship with one of her friends. Investigators said Raghuveer allegedly came in contact with the woman, and the two reportedly developed a relationship. Anita allegedly discovered the matter through mobile chats.
The alleged suicide note reportedly stated that Anita felt betrayed and emotionally distressed by her husband’s actions. Police said she allegedly mentioned claims of abuse, insults, and mental harassment. The note also reportedly included allegations that her husband threatened their child, which allegedly increased her distress.
Police said Anita’s family members had earlier attempted to resolve the matter between the couple, but the situation allegedly continued to deteriorate. Officials also said Anita and Raghuveer had an argument over a phone call last Saturday, which is being examined as part of the investigation.
Anita, a resident of Baryal village in Solan district, had married Raghuveer in 2012. After being appointed as a government teacher in 2024, she moved to Kalka for work.
Following the allegations mentioned in the diary note, Kalka police arrested Raghuveer. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to verify the allegations and establish the circumstances surrounding Anita’s
