Nangal, June 24
Nangal By Cycle (NBC) Trust, a community-led cycling and fitness movement based in Punjab, has been recognized by the Fit India Movement and the Sports Authority of India for its contribution to the successful celebration of World Bicycle Day 2026 and the special edition of Sundays on Cycle organized on June 7 at the BBMB Auditorium in Nangal.
The recognition came through an official Letter of Appreciation issued by Sushant Kandwal, Director of Fit India at the Sports Authority of India. The letter acknowledged NBC’s leadership, commitment, and efforts to mobilize cyclists while promoting fitness, healthy living, and sustainable mobility.

The appreciation also highlighted NBC’s support for the nationwide Fit India campaign through community participation and awareness initiatives focused on cycling and wellness.
Speaking on the recognition, Rohit Garg, Founder and Settlor of Nangal By Cycle Trust, said the honor belongs to every cyclist, volunteer, family member, supporter, partner organization, and government department associated with the initiative.
“This recognition belongs to every cyclist, volunteer, family member, supporter, partner organization, and government department that stood with us. We are deeply honored to receive this appreciation from Fit India and the Sports Authority of India. It reinforces our belief that community-driven initiatives can create meaningful impact and inspire healthier lifestyles,” he said.

Garg also acknowledged the contributions of fellow trustees Karan Chaudhary, Neeraj Thakur, and Tarun Chaudhary, crediting their dedication and tireless efforts for the event’s success.
According to the organizers, the World Bicycle Day program attracted more than 1,000 cyclists, runners, students, volunteers, families, and fitness enthusiasts, making it one of the largest cycling awareness events organized in the Nangal region.
The event was supported by several organizations and stakeholders, including Fit India, BBMB, Punjab Police, Livasa Hospitals, educational institutions, community groups, and volunteers. The program focused on promoting fitness, road safety, environmental awareness, and sustainable modes of transportation.
Since its inception, NBC Trust has expanded its activities across more than 100 villages in the region. Through cycling events, blood donation drives, organ donor awareness campaigns, youth engagement programs, environmental initiatives, and fitness activities, the organization has promoted healthier, socially responsible communities.
The recognition from Fit India has further strengthened the trust’s commitment to supporting national fitness initiatives and encouraging cycling as an accessible and sustainable form of physical activity.
Calling the honor an important milestone, Garg said NBC would continue working with Fit India and other partners to inspire more people to adopt fitness as a way of life and help establish Nangal as a model community for cycling, wellness and active living.
NBC Trust is a registered charitable organization dedicated to promoting cycling, fitness, road safety, environmental sustainability, blood donation, organ donor awareness, youth engagement, and community welfare through volunteer-driven initiatives across Punjab.
