Mendhar, June 9
Indian Army troops opened fire at a suspected Pakistani drone after it briefly entered Indian airspace along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district late Monday night, officials said.
The drone was spotted near forward Indian posts in the Balakote area of the Mendhar sector, prompting troops to respond immediately.
According to officials, Army personnel fired several rounds at the unmanned aerial vehicle after detecting its movement near the LoC. However, the drone was flying at a considerable height and could not be brought down.
The drone later returned towards Pakistan occupied Kashmir after hovering over the area for a brief period, officials added.
The incident comes amid continued security vigilance along the Line of Control, where troops remain on high alert over cross border activities and aerial intrusions.
No casualties or damage were reported in the incident.
