Indian standup comedian and actor Vir Das, who won an Emmy Award in 2023 for his Netflix comedy special Landing, is set to return as the host of the 2024 International Emmy Awards. This marks a significant milestone, as Vir becomes the first Indian to host the prestigious event. Previously, in 2021, he was nominated for an International Emmy in the Comedy category.
Vir Das shared the news on his post on Instagram with the caption: “Vir Das to Host the 52nd International Emmy Awards in New York City! #iemmys. Indian stand-up comedian and actor returns to the International Emmy stage after his 2023 win for comedy.” Expressing his excitement, the comedian added, “Thanks to your support, an Indian Emmy host! I can’t wait to host the @iemmys this year! Crazy. Thank you for having me. Tremendously honored and excited!”
Indian celebrities such as Hrithik Roshan, Shefali Shah, Kriti Sanon, and Dia Mirza congratulated him, leaving supportive comments on his Instagram post. Vir Das was recently seen portraying a news anchor in Call Me Bae, a comedy-drama series on Prime Video. He is also currently on his international Mind Fool tour.
