Mendhar, April 18
An army soldier was injured Saturday in a landmine explosion during an area domination patrol near the Line of Control in Balakot, Poonch district, according to official sources. The soldier, identified as an Agniveer, was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Landmines are part of the anti-infiltration obstacle system in forward areas along the LoC. Officials noted that heavy rains can displace these mines, causing accidental explosions and injuries.
In Sagra village, Balnoi area, army personnel found a rusted mortar shell. Experts safely disposed of it through a controlled explosion, ensuring the safety of residents and property.
The incidents highlight ongoing risks from unexploded ordnance in border areas. Authorities urge vigilance and immediate reporting of suspicious objects to ensure safety.
