Nitish Kumar has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record tenth term, following the National Democratic Alliance’s sweeping victory in the state elections. The ceremony, held on Thursday at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan, was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president J P Nadda and several senior NDA leaders. Nitish Kumar, the national president of the Janata Dal (United), returned to office after the NDA secured 202 seats. The opposition Mahagathbandhan (MGB) won just 35 seats.
