The Punjab Vidhan Sabha has unanimously passed amendments to the Punjab Town Improvement Act, 1922, aimed at expediting development work in cities across the state. Presenting the bill in the assembly on Monday, Local Government Minister Dr Ravjot Singh said the legislation would allow urban local bodies to utilise funds currently held by Improvement Trusts. He said the move would help upgrade municipal infrastructure and strengthen the management of civic services. Dr Ravjot Singh added that the bill was designed to ensure optimal use of resources, enabling towns and cities to improve facilities for residents and accelerate urban growth.
