OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has announced the launch of Pulse, a new feature for ChatGPT that he described as his “favourite so far”. Initially available only to Pro subscribers, Pulse is designed to work overnight, processing user interests, connected data, and recent conversations. Each morning, it delivers a tailored set of updates based on what the user cares about most.
In a post on X, Altman likened Pulse to a “super-competent personal assistant”, explaining that it can provide useful updates if users share general preferences. For example, someone mentioning plans to visit Bora Bora or noting their child’s developmental stage could later receive relevant information. Altman said Pulse represents the future direction of ChatGPT, shifting from being entirely reactive to significantly more proactive and personalised.
“This is an early look,” he wrote, adding that the feature would be refined over time and eventually extended to Plus subscribers. He also congratulated the OpenAI team, including Christina Hart and Samir, for their work in developing the tool.
