New Delhi, September 4
Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong met External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar in New Delhi on Thursday, during his first official visit to India since taking office earlier this year. Jaishankar said he was “pleased” to call on Wong and welcomed his “constant encouragement” for the strengthening of India-Singapore ties. He expressed confidence that Wong’s meeting later in the day with Prime Minister Narendra Modi would “chart a roadmap for our contemporary ties.”
Talks between Modi and Wong are expected to focus on India-Singapore trade relations, digital economy cooperation, defence partnerships, and regional security in the Indo-Pacific.
