Hansalpur(Ahmedabad), August 26
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated two landmark projects at Suzuki Motor’s plant in Hansalpur, Ahmedabad, highlighting India’s growing role as a global hub for green mobility. He flagged off the “e-VITARA”, Suzuki’s first global strategic Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), manufactured in India for export to more than 100 countries, including advanced markets such as Europe and Japan. The move positions India as Suzuki’s global manufacturing hub for electric vehicles.
Prime Minister Modi also launched local production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery plant in Gujarat. The facility is a joint venture between Toshiba, Denso and Suzuki. Officials said the initiative will strengthen India’s battery ecosystem, with more than 80% of battery value now manufactured domestically.
The Prime Minister described the projects as a step forward for both Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat. “Today is a special day in India’s quest for self-reliance and being a hub for green mobility,” the Prime Minister said in his post on X previously known as twitter.
