Punjab’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested two of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s most wanted operatives during an operation on the Patiala–Ambala highway near Shambhu village, said Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav. The police said the suspects fled to Nepal after a recent killing and had returned on the orders of foreign-based handlers to carry out a “sensational” crime in Punjab. Both men have over 15 serious cases against them across Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and Gujarat, including charges under various criminal laws, he said in a post on X previously known as twtter.
The duo were also wanted in connection with the murder of Bharat Ratan, also known as Vicky, in Fazilka. Officers recovered a Glock 9mm pistol and six live cartridges during the arrest. An FIR has been registered at the State Crime police station in SAS Nagar. Punjab Police said it remained committed to dismantling organised crime networks in the state.
