Chandigarh, February 20
Punjab’s Industries Minister, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, has emphasised that the state’s progress depends on the growth of its industrial sector. Speaking on Thursday, he highlighted the global market potential of Punjab’s traditional products, including Phulkari embroidery, Punjabi Jutti footwear, and the cycle industry. He also noted that effective marketing of Punjab’s diverse cuisine could boost international trade.
The Industrialists at the meeting called for a comprehensive policy to promote local businesses on national and global platforms. They proposed establishing high-end marketing and exhibition centres and expanding online sales. Sond assured them that their recommendations would be discussed with Punjab’s chief minister and relevant departments. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Industries and Commerce) Tejveer Singh, Invest Punjab CEO Amit Dhaka, senior officials, and industry representatives.
