External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Saturday criticized Pakistan for its continued support to cross-border terrorism, calling it an “exception” in the region. Addressing the Nani Palkhivala Memorial Lecture in Mumbai, Jaishankar remarked, “That cancer is now consuming its own body politic,” and emphasized the need for Pakistan to abandon this approach, stressing that the entire subcontinent shares an interest in this outcome.
The Minister also discussed the evolving dynamics of India-Russia relations, stating that the partnership has remained strong and is increasingly important as Russia shifts focus towards Asia. He further highlighted India’s strengthened engagement with the European Union since 2014.
