Manali, May 27
The first phase of Panchayat elections in Naggar Development Block under the Manali Assembly constituency concluded peacefully with nearly 85 percent voter turnout, officials said on Tuesday.
The results for the president, vice president and Panchayat members were declared late on Tuesday evening, while counting for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will be conducted on May 31.
Officials said polling for the second phase of elections will take place on May 28 in 15 panchayats across 99 polling booths. The third phase of polling is scheduled for May 30 in 13 panchayats with 87 polling booths.
SDM Manali Gunjit Singh Cheema said the first phase of the Panchayat elections was completed peacefully, and all results, except those of Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members, have already been declared.
He said the administration has completed preparations for the upcoming phases of polling and has made elections.
Cheema said there is significant enthusiasm among voters regarding the Panchayat elections and appealed to all concerned to make all required arrangements for the peaceful and efficient conduct of the elections. all eligible voters to participate in the democratic process by casting their votes.
