Dharamshala, June 30

With the tourist season gaining momentum, Kangra Police has announced a special enforcement drive against traffic violations across the district. Superintendent of Police Kulbhushan Verma said strict action will be taken against motorists involved in overspeeding, riding without helmets, wrong-side driving, reckless behavior and activities that lead to traffic congestion.
SP Verma said additional police and traffic personnel will be deployed at key tourist destinations, including McLeodganj, Dharamshala, Kangra and Matour, to ensure smooth traffic flow and provide a hassle-free experience for visitors. He added that special attention will be given to vehicles entering Himachal Pradesh from neighboring states, particularly Punjab. In coordination with Nurpur Police, awareness drives will be conducted at the state border to educate motorists about traffic regulations. Those found in violation of the rules will face legal action.
The SP also said Kangra Police is continuing its action against vehicles using fake, tampered or temporary number plates. Such vehicles are identified through the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), while manual inspections are also conducted to detect offenders and issue challans. Verma said the primary objective of the special campaign is to maintain smooth traffic movement and strengthen road safety during the peak tourist season. He added that the enforcement drive will continue in the coming weeks to ensure strict compliance with traffic rules across the district.
