Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has called on young girls to actively participate in politics to help shape decision-making and bring about necessary societal change.

Speaking at the annual convocation of Government College for Girls in Ludhiana, Mann noted that while women have outperformed men in various fields, politics remains largely male-dominated. He emphasized the need for greater female representation in governance to foster a more inclusive and equitable society. “The time has come for women to excel in politics, just as they have in other fields,” said Mann. “Their participation will not only strengthen democracy at the grassroots level but also ensure that the right leaders are elected to state and national legislatures.”

Mann highlighted his government’s efforts to empower women, citing the appointment of eight female Deputy Commissioners and six women as Senior Superintendents of Police. Additionally, he noted that 18 women have been appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioners—more than in any previous administration.

The Chief Minister also underscored his administration’s commitment to merit-based job allocation, pointing to the 52,000 government jobs provided in the last three years without corruption or nepotism.

Encouraging students to aspire for leadership, Mann drew on historical examples of individuals from humble backgrounds achieving great success. He urged young women to persevere through challenges and contribute meaningfully to Punjab’s future.

Mann also took aim at political rivals, asserting that traditional parties are uncomfortable with his leadership because he comes from an ordinary background. “They believed they had a divine right to rule Punjab, but the people have rejected their propaganda,” he stated.

Reflecting on his own journey, Mann shared his personal struggles and urged students never to be discouraged by failure. “Stay humble, work hard, and never lose heart. Success comes through dedication and perseverance.”
