Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh on March 30, launching a series of infrastructure and development projects worth over Rs 33,700 crore. Modi’s visit begins in Nagpur, where he will pay homage at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) Smruti Mandir and Deekshabhoomi, a significant Buddhist site where B.R. Ambedkar converted to Buddhism in 1956. He will lay the foundation stone for the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre, a new super-speciality eye hospital, before heading to Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited to inaugurate a UAV testing facility.
Later, Modi will travel to Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, where he will launch a series of infrastructure initiatives. Key among them is NTPC’s Sipat Super Thermal Power Project and Chhattisgarh’s first Super Critical Thermal Power Project, aiming to bolster the state’s power generation capacity. He will also inaugurate key railway projects, including the electrification of Chhattisgarh’s rail network, as well as road upgrades improving connectivity to tribal and industrial regions.
As part of his push for cleaner energy, Modi will lay the foundation stone for city gas distribution projects and a multiproduct fuel pipeline. In the education sector, he will dedicate 130 upgraded PM SHRI schools and a Vidya Samiksha Kendra in Raipur to monitor education schemes. Additionally, he will oversee the handover of housing units to 300,000 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin.
Modi’s visit coincides with the RSS’s Pratipada programme, marking the start of the Hindu New Year, reinforcing his ties with the organisation founded in Nagpur.
