Three Dharamshala councillors face encroachment allegations; report sent to government

Dharamshala, June 30

The Kangra district administration has submitted a report to the Himachal Pradesh government following an inquiry into allegations that three elected councillors of the Dharamshala Municipal Corporation and their family members had encroached upon government land.

Deputy Commissioner of Kangra, Hemraj Bairwa, said the district administration received the complaints after the Municipal Corporation election process was completed. The matter was subsequently investigated through the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Dharamshala.

According to the Deputy Commissioner, the inquiry found that government land had been encroached upon.

“Following the investigation conducted through the SDM, Dharamshala, encroachment on government land has been found. Accordingly, action has been initiated in accordance with the rules. Under the Municipal Corporation Act, the report has been sent to the state government, which will take appropriate action in such matters,” Bairwa said.

He added that complaints can be received at any time and are not restricted by any specific time limit.

“The complaint was received after the elections. There is no time limit for filing such complaints. Since encroachment has been established during the inquiry, further action will be taken strictly in accordance with the law,” he said.

The district administration stated that proceedings relating to the encroachment have already been initiated and that the state government will decide any further action in accordance with the provisions of the Municipal Corporation Act.
