Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Ajay Singhal on Thursday highlighted the state police’s welfare initiatives, modernisation efforts and action against criminals while speaking about his role as Chairman of the Haryana Police Corporation.

Singhal said Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has provided guidance for modernising the Haryana Police, with a vision of making the force more advanced and efficient. He also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on developing a “smart police” system.

“From the first day, I had said that I would work for police welfare first, and I have done that work,” Singhal said.

He stated that ₹9 crore has already been spent on police welfare till May 2026. He added that Haryana Police’s practices are gaining recognition across the country.

Singhal said the Prime Minister has provided ₹750 crore for police welfare, which has to be utilised within two years. He further informed that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has allocated ₹120 crore for improving technical capabilities and modernising the police force.

According to him, this is the first time Haryana Police has received such a significant budget, which will be used across 237 projects. He said the aim is to develop the Haryana Police into one of the best police forces in the country, with a strong infrastructure.

Speaking about the Balram Dangi firing incident, Singhal said people across the country are receiving threats due to the misuse of technology.

He said those involved in the firing on Balram Dangi were arrested within 24 hours.

Singhal also highlighted the benefits of the ‘Abhed’ app and said it has been helping people. He added that crime in Haryana has declined by 8 percent compared to last year.

He also mentioned the launch of the 1930 cybercrime helpline, through which 28 complaints were registered within 3 days.
